Okada, Tetsuya

Okada Tetsuya, born in 1932, worked as an editor for "Kogei News" from 1955 to 1974. He has written for various design, railroad, and automobile-related publications. He has lectured at Kuwasawa Design School and is a former director of the Kogei Foundation.

Born in Tianjin, China, Okada Tetsuya studied at the Sawa Design Institute located in Tokyo. Following his graduation in 1955, he was hired by Maruzen, a renowned bookstore chain, to work in their publishing department. At the time, Maruzen produced the design journal Kogei News for the Industrial Arts Institute. Okada was an editor for Kogei News until 1974, when it ceased publication.

In addition to his commission for Kogei News, Okada worked as an advisor at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry from 1959 to 1962. After that, he wrote as a freelance editor for various design, railroad, and automobile-related publications.

Okada began lecturing at Kuwasawa Design School in Tokyo in 1966 and was a trustee of Kōgei Zaidan (Japan Industrial Arts Foundation) in 1988.
